List View Task Grouping

list view grouping

Today we're adding a small but very handy improvement to the Board → List view. Previously, tasks in List view were always grouped by Project. That worked well, but it was not always the best way to answer questions like “who is overloaded?” or “how many open bugs do we have?”

Now you can choose how tasks are grouped:

  • Project - the previous default view
  • Assigned - group tasks by assigned user
  • Tags - group tasks by their main tag

This makes the List view much more flexible for daily reviews, standups, and planning sessions.

#How It Works

  1. Go to any board and switch to the List view.

  2. In the top-left of the list, click the “Group Tasks” control.

  3. Choose one of the options:

    • Project - see tasks grouped under each project. list view grouping project
    • Assigned - see a section per team member, plus an Unassigned group. list view grouping assigned
    • Tags - see sections for each tag (e.g. Bug, Feature, Improvement). list view grouping tags

The list updates instantly, so you can quickly switch between perspectives.

#When To Use Each Grouping

  • Group By Project
Best for project-focused overviews, especially when you're tracking multiple client or product projects on the same board.

  • Group By Assigned
Great for standups and workload checks:

    • See what each person is working on.
    • Quickly spot users with too many high-priority tasks.
    • Keep an eye on the Unassigned section so nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Group By Tags
Perfect when you care more about type of work than where it lives:

    • Group all Bugs together to review issues.
    • Look at Features and Improvements separately.
    • Treat tags like work streams or themes for easier prioritization.

#Available Now

These grouping options are live for all t0ggles users. Open any board, switch to List, and try grouping tasks by Project, Assigned, or Tags to see your work from the angle that fits your next decision.
